On 21 November, the European Parliament voted to include 17 technologies in the EU’s Net-Zero Industry Act, clearing the path for discussions with EU Member States to conclude the legislation.
The energy intensive industries, including the glass sectors, which provide indispensable materials for the decarbonisation of the economy and for the manufacture of the Strategic Net Zero Technologies, welcome the European Parliament vote.
In particular, our sector praises the extension of scope of the act to cover products, components and materials along the supply chains of net-zero technologies. We also welcome the extension of the list of net-zero technologies to include “high-efficiency industrial process and electrification technologies for energy and carbon intensive industries”.
