The European glass fibre sector, together with a broad coalition of European industry associations, is calling for a stronger and more effective EU trade defence framework to support fair competition and reinforce Europe’s industrial resilience.
In a joint cross-industry statement, the signatories outline several key priorities for the European Commission:
- Allocate sufficient staff to DG Trade to strengthen the effectiveness of trade defence investigations
- Apply existing trade defence instruments more rapidly and with greater flexibility
- Address state-induced market distortions through a dedicated new instrument
- Ensure a more strategic and effective implementation of the Foreign Subsidies Regulation
A stronger and more assertive application of EU trade defence tools is essential to tackle growing market distortions and safeguard a level playing field for European industry.
