Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) : the Glass sectors’ recommendations

Today, Glass Alliance Europe adopted a joint position on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism to be presented by the European Commission. The paper lists the critical factors to the development of a CBAM.

The glass sectors call on the European Commission to consider:

  • The co-existence of the new mechanism with the free allocation and the inclusion of a solution for EU exports
  • To set equivalent levels of control between domestic and non-EU operators
  • To avoid loopholes for opportunistic trade flows
  • To allocate the revenues expected from the CBAM to climate policy purposes only.
